Pagans: What’s your opinion on this quote from Drawing Down the Moon about the Feraferia Tradition and elitism?

Everything is worked out in so much detail that if any detail is changed ideologically, it would be very upsetting.’”

I know this isn’t saying quite that much because Feraferia has received criticism by many Pagans. But what do you think are the reasons behind this sentiment, and do you think that ideological purity in this sense is something of importance or not?
Honestly, I can’t say that I have too much of a problem with them on that. I mean, Reconstructionism prides itself on being “Religion with homework,” and the Reconstructionist approach has made more than a few people uncomfortable, because some Recons are a bit…vocal in telling people that their claims are less than accurate. (In fact, we’ve even earned the coveted “Fascist Meanie Poo-Poo Head” badge for that.)
If that’s part of their tradition, to maintain their structure/practices/beliefs so that they don’t get watered down, that’s fine by me. It’s their tradition, they get to make the rules. ::shrugs:: The “watering-down” has happened with Wicca, so I can see where they would want to prevent that.
